Error: “BeforeTransferFromLIMS function either is not there, or cannot execute”

When receiving this error message when creating a new import or export template, there are a few things that you will want to verify:

1. Verify that you have Excel Trust Center configured to allow macros and trust the location of the template:

In Excel, go to FILES> OPTIONS>TRUST CENTER> TRUST CENTER SETTINGS:

Choose TRUSTED LOCATIONS> ADD NEW LOCATION> select BROWSE:

Navigate to the template location (typically this is on your C: drive using this path, but the templates could be installed on your server or in another location). Select the correct template folder and click OK:

Be sure that the “subfolders of this location are also trusted” is checked and click OK:

Choose MACRO SETTINGS and ensure that VBS macros are enabled and click OK:

2. Verify that you have completed all the steps in these related articles (based upon if you are creating a new import or export template)
